Semi load doesn't look like much, does it? I wonder how much this thing holds. Suppose it's ever full?Friday, March 15, 2013
Slowly Starting
We're starting to move, slowly. Hauled corn to Pudenz's northeast of Carroll this week between loading hogs.

God Made a Farmer, by Paul Harvey, Superbowl Commercial
God Made a Farmer.... I can so relate to that commercial as I think back at how hard Lynn has worked. And the inclimate weather! Out there in the 0 temps and strong winds grinding feed for the hogs, being chased by a mad boar or cow, up in the middle of the night to load hogs, out before the sun got up and in well after it went down--sometimes not sleeping at all as the rain was FINALLY coming and crops had to be planted or harvested. Driving around and looking at the damage mother nature has caused by insects, disease, or weather.
I was happy for cell phones as I'd wake up in the middle of the night and he wouldn't be home yet. Once in awhile, I'd go check on him, many nights I'd pray for a safe return. Cell phones were a blessing! Especially the day he got stuck between the hay feeder and the big bale as he could call for help. So many farmers have not been as lucky as he was that day. Blessings to their families...

Wintertime
Not much going on out here on the farm. It's snowing today. Just a really pretty, soft snow. C O L D !!! Lynn's playing with the Ipad I gave him for Christmas and watching the 49ers and whomever they are playing. Napping inbetween. Cows are getting snowcapped. I'm looking for pillows on Etsy. :)
Is there a glitch on this thing? I can't get a link to put a photo on. Used Insert Image above, but can't upload from my computer. ??? Oh well....

Mud!
I missed a good picture! The graincart was full of grain and it rained. It sank quite a ways into the mud. Nice to have some rain! (Hopefully, I won't have to get the stupid mower out again!)
There are just a few acres of corn left and we just can't get them done. Taking some corn into Amaizing Energy in Denison, an ethanol plant.

10/17/12
Had a little rain today, so they aren't in the field yet, but will be back here when they do get started. Sun is trying to peek out and it's just damp, so I reckon they'll be going soon. Been loading hogs out and hauling manure, too. That's an old photo of the manure tank. I'll update maybe later today. The sprayer picture was selected for a local calendar for 2012. It was fun seeing one of my photos in print.

Beginnings
Well, alrighty then! Just getting started on this blogging thing that Chuck and Jan Moore turned us onto. Hope it's as easy as they say! (I see an HTML tab over there and that's scaring the bageebers outta me!) (Is that in the Scrabble dictionary, Jan?)
So this is my first post. Chuck and Jan were over for supper tonight. NY strips turned out nice and tough and dry, darnit. But we had a great time, regardless!
Didn't rain much today so back to the field tomorrow, I'm pretty sure.
