Alarm went off at 2:30 AM. They loaded hogs at 3:00 this morning. I got up and was going to go take pictures of them and realized my van was being repaired, so happily I slinked back to bed....
(The hogs go out early like that when it's really hot as the trip is too hard on them in the daytime.)

Summertime, Summertime, Sweet, Sweet Summertime!
Pretty hot, dry, and humid these days. We could use some rain. Go figure! Yesterday was spraying and today is hauling corn to the ethanol plant. Lucky Lynn gets to be president of the Poet board again, so he spent some time down there (Coon Rapids) as New Holland was doing a preview of their new machinery there. They support ethanol and are giving a kickback for buyers who sell corn to the plants. Hooray!

Some days....
are like that! Kelly lost his hydraulic fluid in the tractor on the way to mow hay. Got the tractor going again and told me to wait while he made one round. 10 yards later, he tangled up a telephone wire that was laying on the ground for some ungodly reason, tangled it up in the mower. Lynn had to help with getting that all out. Hour later he comes back with the mower that fell through the flatbed we haul it on. bah!

Are you getting tired of this?
I am!
We bought a Bennche side-by-side which is like a farmer's 4WD golf cart! There are two seats (side-by-side) and a little truck bed in the back for hauling small things. This is perfect for me to go around and pick up sticks. This company makes parts for Yamaha, who has a similar vehicle, but is about a third more in price. They added things like a windshield and doors that make you go "ooooooo-aaaahhhhh", until you use it. The windshield and doors will be coming off! The windshield makes the exhaust and dust wrap right around into your face. It is possible to take off the bottom part of the windshield, only. We might try that.
This can be licensed for town and is the only one in it's class that can. It can only be used where the speed limit is 35 or below. If we don't license and use it only for farm, we can go as fast as we want (goes about 50 mph) and can drive it to town to pick up feed bags if we want. Why would we want? I dunno, but I think I'll try it just once! I see many of our neighbors have gotten them. Must be the new thing. Don't run over us on the roads! :)
I can see Kelly driving it to his deer stand in the middle of the section. Good thing it has a winch as I'm sure it will need it!

I hear thunder....
Rain every single day. So happy the hay is baled. If it ever quits, I'll go get a photo of a bale. Took this the other night at the campground. Deer are so beautiful.

Let It Rain
Crops are in, except for the wet spots. He left the planter out so he could plant them later, but it's not looking good for that. Quick, heavy shower yesterday and a storm this morning.
Plan for next year is to get another planter and both he and Kelly can plant beans. Going back to narrow rows, possibly.

Back in Motion
Finishing up the last field--best he can, anyway. He will try to plant the wet areas if they get dry enough, soon enough. Kelly is trying to get the hay raked and keeping the planter filled. Thirty percent chance of rain the next few days. Crossing our fingers.
