Another Nice Day

And things are starting to really get cooking!  Kelly was spreading anhydrous and Lynn harrowed and repaired things.  Had a couple guys hauling manure.

  Saw tons of ducks today!

And isn't this a Snowy Egret?

Beautiful Weather!

Missed a couple good photos yesterday.  We had the thickest fog.  0% visibility!  Started late because of it.  Then Lynn went to the Crescent farm to see if it was dry enough and got stuck.  Lucky for him, he was out before I got there with my camera!  LOL  No planting yet.  Just manure hauling and anhydrous.

Picking Up....

Started hauling manure just a couple days ago.  I'll try to get some pictures next week.  Lynn said we are a couple weeks later starting than last year.  Of course, last year was warmer and dry.

Slowly Starting

We're starting to move, slowly.  Hauled corn to Pudenz's northeast of Carroll this week between loading hogs.

Semi load doesn't look like much, does it?  I wonder how much this thing holds.  Suppose it's ever full?

Wetness!  We like wetness!

Minerals and ground corn

This is the way we drag the ground, drag the ground, drag the ground.  This is the way we drag the ground so early in the morning!

God Made a Farmer, by Paul Harvey, Superbowl Commercial

God Made a Farmer.... I can so relate to that commercial as I think back at how hard Lynn has worked. And the inclimate weather! Out there in the 0 temps and strong winds grinding feed for the hogs, being chased by a mad boar or cow, up in the middle of the night to load hogs, out before the sun got up and in well after it went down--sometimes not sleeping at all as the rain was FINALLY coming and crops had to be planted or harvested. Driving around and looking at the damage mother nature has caused by insects, disease, or weather.

I was happy for cell phones as I'd wake up in the middle of the night and he wouldn't be home yet. Once in awhile, I'd go check on him, many nights I'd pray for a safe return. Cell phones were a blessing! Especially the day he got stuck between the hay feeder and the big bale as he could call for help. So many farmers have not been as lucky as he was that day. Blessings to their families...

Wintertime

Not much going on out here on the farm.  It's snowing today.  Just a really pretty, soft snow.  C O L D !!!  Lynn's playing with the Ipad I gave him for Christmas and watching the 49ers and whomever they are playing.  Napping inbetween.  Cows are getting snowcapped.  I'm looking for pillows on Etsy.  :)

Is there a glitch on this thing?  I can't get a link to put a photo on.  Used Insert Image above, but can't upload from my computer.  ???  Oh well....
